Botanical name: Cinnamomum zeylanicum Blume (C. verum L. Presl), fam. Laureaceae
Extraction method: Ceylon Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil is steam distilled from the bark of the Cinnamon Tree. Carefully-controlled steam is applied to the plant materials so that Essential Oil is released without destroying the temperature-sensitive botanical and aromatic compounds in it.
Origin: Sri Lanka
Description: the Cinnamon Tree is native to Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon). A tropical evergreen tree, it can grow up to 45 feet (15m) in the wild. The pale yellowish brown bark which Essential Oil is steam distilled from, is smooth, thin and and highly fragrant.
Quality Ceylon Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil is rather rare, so it’s usually one of the most expensive Essential Oils in the market. In fact, Sri Lanka is the only major supplier of Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil between 1983 and 1992.
