Botanical Name: Zingiber officinalis
Extraction Method: this Ginger Root Essential Oil is steam distilled and not extracted via the Carbon Dioxide (CO2) method. The temperature of steam is carefully controlled and passed over crushed ginger root for the Essential Oil to be released while protecting the temperature-sensitive aromatic and botanical compounds in it.
While also retaining the aromatic and botanical compounds just like its CO2-extracted counterpart, steam-distilled Ginger Root Essential Oil is milder. So if you don’t like the very powerful aroma and spicy characteristic of CO2-extracted Ginger Root Essential Oil or would like to opt for a gentler alternative for topical use to minimize the chances of skin irritation, steam-distilled Ginger Root Essential Oil would make a better buy.

Aromatic scent: spicy, warm, earthy - smells just like the ginger root which you use as a condiment in the kitchen
Carbon Dioxide (CO2) extraction vs steam distillation
We offer both Carbon Dioxide (CO2)-extracted and steam-distilled Ginger Root Essential Oil. So which one should you buy?
Many people said that CO2-extracted Ginger Root Essential Oil smells very much alive, vibrant and energetic that is true to fresh ginger root. Its steam-distilled counterpart is a tad milder. So if you prefer highly invigorating aromas, go for CO2 Ginger Root Essential Oil. However, if you’ve never used warming, spicy Essential Oils before or have sensitivity issues, it’s recommended to go for the milder steam-distilled Ginger Root Essential Oil. Be it CO2 extracted or steam distilled, Ginger Root Essential Oil is very strong and potent so always suitably dilute it in carrier oils and use with a light hand.
